Attention to all employers.

A notice must be sent to all current employees by October 1, 2013 informing them of health care plan options if you offer coverage or notify them about the new state and federal insurance exchanges if you don't. New hires after October 1, 2013 must be provided with the required notice within 14 days of hire.

      For gifts made in calendar years 2009 and 2010, the annual exclusion amount is $13,000. For gifts made in calendar years 2006 through 2008, the annual exclusion amount was $12,000.

    Standard mileage rate.
    Beginning on Jan. 1, 2014, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:

    56 cents per mile for business miles driven
    23.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
    14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations
